Located between the Coast’s two most prominent and beautiful creeks, Currumbin and Tallebudgera, Palm Beach is one of the Coast’s most-loved suburbs. One of Palm Beach’s legendary original buildings, The Playroom, was a live music venue that stood on the Gold Coast Highway for over 30 years. Opened in 1966, The Playroom was originally a cabaret-style venue where patrons would bring their own drinks and dine in groups while stars like Johnny O’Keefe entertained into the early hours of the morning. The venue played host to some of the finest bands of the 70s and 80s including international touring talent like INXS, The Cure, Split Enz and Midnight Oil. It was famous for its rowdy crowds and wild times. The Cheshire Cat Motel is another historical Palm Beach icon, which has been around for over 70 years and is instantly recognisable for its pastel purple paint job and grinning black cat signage.
